The first-ever teams from Maldives: South Asia Regional Rounds of the Foreign Direct Investment International Arbitration Moot 2024
Teams Selection
We selected a team from the Maldives National University (MNU), Islamic University of Maldives (IUM) and Villa College (VC) to train and compete at the South Asia Regional Rounds of the FDI Moot.
Although the Islamic University of the Maldives team was initially part of our program and traveled to the host country for the competition, issues regarding the teams conduct towards the organizers, along with unauthorized actions by the team ultimately led to their removal from our training program. After pleading in only 1 round out of 4 rounds, the IUM team forfeited their rounds and did not compete at the competition.
As such, out of the three teams trained by MMCS, two teams—The Maldives National University Team: Malaak Hussain Rasheed, Aminath Wafa Waleed & Aminath Reesha Ali and the Villa College Team: Mariyam Malsaa Ahmed, Fathimath Hoona Haneef & Aishath Anaan Binthi Ashraf, successfully competed and represented Maldives for the first time ever at the South Asia Regional Rounds of the Foreign Direct Investment International Arbitration Moot 2024.
