Ilma is a law student at Jamia Millia Islamia. She has previously interned under various lawyers of the Supreme Court and High Court of India. She is the coordinator in ALEM (Access to Legal Education for Muslims). She competed at the 29th Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot, and reached the Semi-finals of the ACIC Vis Pre Moot, 2022. Ilma was the first runner-up at the 1st National Trial Advocacy Tournament and a quarter finalist at the 6th NLIU-Justice R.K. Tankha Memorial International Arbitration Moot Court Competition. Ilma also received 2nd Best Memorial Award at the 3rd S.K. Puri Memorial International Moot Court.
