Maldives UNCITRAL Asia Pacific Day 2022

The event took place on October 27, 2022, under the theme “Harmonizing International Commercial Laws for the Asia-Pacific Region to Facilitate Business and Trade.”

Various stakeholders, including law students, graduates, lawyers, and ADR practitioners attended the hybrid event co-organized by UNCITRAL RCAP, Maldives Moot Court Society, and Villa College Faculty of Shari’ah and Law.

The event was attended in total by approximately 63 participants (37 in-person and 26 joined remotely).

📌 UNCITRAL Arbitration Framework – Ms. Moonar Tsoi (Legal Expert, UNCITRAL RCAP).

📌 Importance of national arbitration laws in harmonizing international trade and business – Ms. Aishath Iffa Ashraf (Senior State Attorney, Attorney General’s Office, Maldives). 

📌 Modernizing and harmonizing international contract law through the CISG – Dr. Luca Castellani (Legal Officer, UNCITRAL).

📌 Closing remarks – Suma Ilyas (Founder and President, Maldives Moot Court Society).
