MALDIVES ADR WEEK

Maldives is a tropical paradise made up of over 1,000 coral islands scattered across the Indian Ocean. These low-lying islands are surrounded by lagoons and reefs, creating a fragile yet stunning ecosystem. The unique geological formation makes the Maldives one of the most visually distinct countries in the world. Known for its crystal-clear turquoise waters and white sandy beaches, Maldives provides an exceptional dream destination to bring together professionals from around the world

A Journey of Dialogue & Discovery

2 September 2026, Wednesday
International Participants Arrival
2t 1024x683

International participants arrive at Velana International Airport, marking the beginning of the experience.

Upon arrival, participants are transferred from Hulhulé Island — where the airport is located — across the Sinamalé Bridge, which directly connects Hulhulé, Malé, and Hulhumalé. The short 15-minute drive leads to Hulhumalé, a planned coastal district designed for calm and comfort. Here, participants check in and rest for the night, preparing for the event ahead.

Malé is one of the smallest capitals in the world, yet it is full of life and energy. With bustling streets, and cultural landmarks, Malé serves as the political and economic center of the Maldives, offering a glimpse into local life.

3 September 2026, Thursday
Transfer to Maafushi & Welcome Reception
3t 1024x683

Participants check out from their accommodation in Hulhumalé and travel by speedboat across the turquoise waters to Maafushi, where they check in to their island accommodation and settle into the main venue setting of the programme.

In the evening, the programme officially begins with the Welcome Reception, marking the start of discussions, dialogue, and engagement across the week.

4 September 2026, Friday
Panels & Discussions Begin
4t 1024x683

The programme continues in Maafushi with in-depth dialogue, bringing together practitioners, academics, and emerging voices in Alternative Dispute Resolution to exchange insights, explore contemporary challenges, and strengthen regional and international perspectives on dispute resolution.

Following the afternoon sessions, participants will have free time to explore Maafushi at their own pace. The island offers a relaxed and vibrant local atmosphere, where participants can walk through the island, experience local life, enjoy the beaches, or simply unwind by the ocean.

Those wishing to explore further may also opt into available water and leisure activities through local providers, including snorkelling, diving, jet-skiing, parasailing, dolphin watching and other island-based experiences — allowing each participant to shape their own Maldivian experience.

5 September 2026, Saturday
MIMAC Final & Closing Ceremony
1t 1024x683

The final day unfolds in Maafushi with the highly anticipated final round of the MMCS International Maritime Arbitration Competition (MIMAC), where the two finalist teams compete for the title of champion.

The day culminates in the Closing Ceremony, celebrating the achievements, contributions, and engagement of all participants throughout the programme, marking the conclusion of an immersive week of dialogue, advocacy, and dispute resolution in the Maldives.

As a special farewell experience, participants are invited to a Sunset Boat Ride + Bonfire BBQ on a Sandbank near Guraidhoo - a unique island escape surrounded by the open ocean, golden skies, and Maldivian serenity. The evening includes a scenic sunset boat ride, followed by a beachside BBQ under the stars on a secluded sandbank. International Participants Cost: USD 75 per person. Maldivian Participants Cost: MVR 1,157 per person. Advance registration is required as tickets are limited.

6 September 2026, Sunday

Yes, all participants will receive certificates!

We are unable to offer a “without accommodation” participation option for international participants due to the Maldives’ unique geographical setting and the multi-island nature of the event.
